How Surveillance Impacts the Future

Note: I had written this in my journal on Monday March 23rd, 2026

  1. Abstract labor must be quantified and counted for analytics and finances, where the behavior of the user (scroll speed, attention duration, post interactions) are taken record of with every post that is encountered not only for improving the algorithm but for also paying dues to the content creator. This also creates plenty of data to sell to advertisement agencies to make more money as a company.
  2. This creates an incentive to collect information of the user to have a holistic understanding of their environment, personality and interests. Users are lumped together in social groups that are expected to act and respond in similar ways as well as have an expected opinion towards other groups of users.
  3. These algorithms have the power to suppress those who have the ability and ideas to incite change or to amplify advertisements and posts for these groups of users to act in ways that shape and prepare for contingencies to be made profitable in a foreseeable future. Any trends are no longer made organically, but determined by an algorithm, and these trends have already been prepared to be made profitable.
  4. Those with expendable time, money, and talent are poached by those with material power to have their posts be amplified on algorithms effectively impacting the future through online culture and surveillance capitalism. All contingencies have been prepared to generate trends that can maximize profit.
